Welcome back! Teachers should note that there are a number of late busses this morning. Students affected will be coming into classes late.
Students who are requesting course changes are asked to be patient. Please follow your original schedules until you are called to the office to discuss your change options. Thank you.
There will be a Student Council meeting on Thursday, September 10, at 11:36 a.m. in Room W105. Bring your lunches.
Men’s Soccer tryouts will be on Wednesday, Sept. 9, Thursday, Sept. 10, and Friday, Sept. 11. All at Eastern Eagles Complex from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Students interested in tryout out for the Golf team should meet on Wednesday at 11:38 in Room M307 (Mr. Killeen’s room).
Tryouts for MRHS Interscholastic teams will begin on Wednesday:
- Women’s Soccer – 3:30 p.m. at the Soccer Complex
- Men’s Soccer – 3:30 p.m. at the Soccer Complex
- Women’s Volleyball – 3:30 p.m. at the high school
- Men’s Volleyball – 3:30 p.m. at the high school
Important Meeting for the Ladies Field Hockey team: Would all members of last year’s Field Hockey team meet in M102 at break this morning. It is a very important meeting.
Cross Country will begin next week.
Our teacher-librarian, Mrs. Killeen extends a warm welcome to all new and returning students and of course, to all staff. Here’s a few items of interest:
- Hours of operation in the school library resource centre are as follows: Monday & Friday from 8:15am to 3:06pm; Tuesday to Thursday from 8:15am to 4:00pm.
- Just recently a new library circulation system was installed in the high school libraries across the province. Unfortunately, as a result, books will NOT be available for loan until Friday, September 11th. During morning reading period until then, students are encouraged to read their agendas, course outlines, newspapers or new course textbooks (if you don’t have a book of your own). Please note: this doesn’t mean the library is closed!!!! Stop by and check out all the new exciting material, fiction and non-fiction, and find a book that’s right for you!
- Students are encouraged to check out the bulletin board outside the library for news about new books, upcoming contests and general information. Featured on the bulletin board now is info on Scholastic. Scholastic Book Clubs isn’t just for elementary students anymore!! Scholastic has continued their very popular Teen Readers Book Club. September book orders have arrived and forms are available in the library for ordering. Pick up a slip today! Mrs. Killeen can order for you! Cash or cheques accepted.
- Interested in getting involved at MRHS? Perhaps being a library monitor would be a good fit for you. Please stop by the library and pick up an application and chat with Mrs. Killeen today!
- Everyone loves free books, right? Mrs. Killeen is encouraging students to take part in a “Back to School” book contest that will be running next week from September 14th-18th. Stay tuned to daily announcements for more details next Monday.
- You’re in high school!!! You should have a provincial library card. This card will give you access to all books across PEI. The resources will help you in all sorts of course assignments this year. To get your application form please see Mrs. Killeen for one. She will even help you fill it out. Have a card already? Good for you!!!!
- Gently used book donations are always welcome in the library. A huge thanks to Ms. Lowther for her generous donations recently.
- Finally, it is never to late to return overdue materials….no questions asked.
