Happy Birthday to Olivia Young!

Welcome to Paula Johnston, Jared Cheverie, Cheryl MacKay, and Amanda Purchase who are guest teachers with us today.

Congratulations to the Field Hockey Team who finished the regular season yesterday with a 4-2 victory over Bluefield. Goal scorers were Kassie Hicken, Nicole Mooney, Laura Mooney, and Jenna MacLellan. Great game in the net by Victoria Leard. Ladies should note that you have a practice today after school.

Happy Birthday to Madison Dunn and Jennifer MacKinnon! We would also like to extend belated greetings to John Nabuurs and Jack Panting who had their birthday over the weekend.

Congratulations to the Men’s Soccer Team who played a great game at TOSH on Friday, winning 4-1. Greg Clark had two goals in the victory. Connor Lea and Catlin Keefe also scored.

Students: check out the election results tonight and see how they compare with the youth vote at MRHS. The results are as follows: Conservative Party with 77 votes, Green Party of Canada with 118 votes, Liberal Party with 138 votes, NDP with 53 votes, and the Independent Larry McGuire with 26 votes.

Starting Thursday, October 16, every Thursday in the Cafeteria, they’ll be having a “sub bar”. The Cafeteria staff will be serving made-to-order subs and wraps (your choice) for $3.80 (6 inch), $6.80 (12 inch), and add a bottle of water to your lunch for just $1.00. Toppings available are: ham, turkey, onions, pickles, peppers, olives, mustard, mayo, etc. (roast beef subs coming soon).

Cross Country Announcements: Anyone who participated in last week’s Cross Country Unit Meet is asked to see Mr. Gregory, Room W303, to pick up a permission form for this Thursday’s Provincial Meet. Congratulations to the top finishers in the Unit Meet: Robert Burke (1st place in Juvenile Boys), Emily Jackson (2nd place in Juvenile Girls), Devon Gunn (4th place in Senior Boys), and Marina MacAuley (2nd place in Senior Girls). All Montague High Cross Country participants qualified for the Provincial Meet. Congratulations to everyone who participated.

Happy Birthday for Scott Brousseau, Aiden Crawford, Marina MacAulay and Melissa MacAulay!

Congratulations to the MRHS Golf Team! The Vikings did very well yesterday at the Provincial Golf Meet. Taking home three medals, the AA Men had a combined score of 254 for the Team Gold, with Ryan Chapman shooting 80, Travel Crane 87, and Cole Gillis 87. Other medals included Emily Doyle shooting a 99 for Bronze and Ryan’s 80 was good enough for a Silver. The rest of the Golf team weathered the storm and had good rounds with Kaitlin Doyle shooting 104, Jason MacEachern 95, Cole Fraser 95, Greg Gillis 93, Jalen MacLeod 91, and Jimmy Lannigan and John Andreu both with 96. The Golf Team have had a solid year and would like to thank their school and supporters for their enthusiasm; also thanks for allowing them to leave school early yesterday to participate in this event.
