• Ladies Soccer Team, led by Rachelle Collier lost to Kinkora 4 to 2 in action last evening. Laura Wisener played outstanding in goal. Practice today at 3:30.

• Girls AA Volleyball played strong last night. This resulted in a very close set in which the girls really meshed as a team. Anne Brown worked hard and made some tremendous sets. Passing continues to improve and the girls were strong at the net, with Danielle Rice executing some awesome blocks and attacks.
• There will be a practice today in 3:20 for the Ladies Field Hockey Team.
• No practice tody for the mens soccer team.
• The mens and womens volleyball teams played well last evening against TOSH however, come up short of victory. Practice today after school.

There will be choir today from 3:30 to 5:00 in the music room. All are welcome to attend.

- The Ladies Volleyball team lost their hard fought game yesterday evening, three sets to zero. Hanna Hameline led the team, displaying strong skills through the game. Danielle Rice and Laura Blackett earned honorable mention for their impressive plays. Ladies will practice tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.
- Molly Gotell scored and Emily Jackson played well defensively in the Field Hockey team’s 1-1 tie against Charlottetown Rural last night. No practice tonight!
- Fall Fest Volunteers: Money will be collected in Room M102 at lunch time today. Cost is $5 for your t-shirt and $5 for the dance ticket.
- Our Women’s Soccer team had a tough 2-1 loss in Kensington last evening. The girls played ‘til the whistle and are strong going into Fall Fest.

- Our Ladies Volleyball team lost last evening against Colonel Grey. Strong consistent play was the order of the day by senior Hanna Hameline. Ladies will meet today at first break in Room M102; attendance is a must. Ladies play again on Wednesday in Kensington.
- Congratulations to the Men’s Volleyball team on their victory over Colonel Gray last evening. It was an exciting five matches and full credit goes to the guys for a team victory!
- The Women’s Soccer team fell short on a 3-2 loss to Morell yesterday. The Women put forth a strong effort. MRHS game MVP’s were Krista MacEachern and Jolisa Hume. The gals will practice at 3:30 today at the Complex.
- Darren Lundrigan and Brett Byrne put in an excellent effort in the Men’s Soccer loss to Colonel Gray last evening. Practice today at 3:15 at the school.
- The Golf team competed in their first tournament yesterday at Avondale. Top male player for the day was Greg Gillis and female was Katlin Doyle.
Belfast Minor Hockey Registration for the 2009/2010 year will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Belfast School. You can also register on Thursday, October 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the rink.
This is a reminder to all ringette players: Final registration is on Wednesday. Late fee of $50 will apply after that date. As well, there are only a few spots left for the Conditioning Camp. Contact Mrs. Hicken as soon as possible if you are interested.

Message from the Library: Staff and students are encouraged to check out the two displays Mrs. Killeen has created in the library. The first is a display of Terry Fox books; the second features books that have been made into film. Some sample titles include Rain Man, Watchmen, Alive, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, New Moon, The Outsiders, Angela’s Ashes, and The Three Muskateers.
Student Services Announcements:
- Any grade 12 students who are considering applying to the University of Toronto. Please view the scholarship board inside the Student Services office or see Mr. Conohan regarding the University of Toronto National Scholarship program. The deadline for application is Oct. 5.
- On Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 2:15, a representative from Saint Thomas University, which is located in Fredericton, NB, will coming to the school to do an information session for grade 12 students who are considering applying to this university. In order to attend, students must sign up on the list inside the Student Service’s office.
Belfast Minor Hockey Registration for the 2009/2010 year will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Belfast School. You can also register on Thursday, October 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the rink.

Athletic Department Notices:
- The Ladies’ Volleyball team played valiantly in their game against TOSH. Improved play resulted in a tremendous comeback, falling just short of victory. The team has a practice tonight from 5:00 to 7:00. Come cheer them on next Monday at home against Colonel Gray.
- A much improved effort by the Men’s Volleyball team following Wednesday’s match saw some exciting action. Team leaders were Jay Shaw and Greg Fitzpatrick.
- The Men’s Soccer team meets today at lunch in Mr. Killeen’s room at 11:35 a.m. Bring your lunches.

Debate Club meets today in W304 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
Our Ladies’ and Men’s Volleyball teams are playing home games today at 5:00 p.m. against Colonel Gray. Come out and support the teams.
The Men’s Volleyball team showed a great deal of potential in their matches with Bluefield. While we did not win the matches, we were competitive and look forward to a good season.
The Ladies’ Soccer team played well and showed great effort in a tough 3-0 loss to the Rural. Coach MacDonald thinks the girls will have a winning season if they keep up the hard work! MRHS Game MVP’s were Laura Wisener and Tara Acorn.
The Ladies’ Volleyball team played a great game last night against Bluefield, although they did not win, great skills were displayed by all. A special pat on the back goes to Martha Conohan for a great first game! Everyone is encouraged to come out and support your volleyball teams!
The Ladies’ Field Hockey team extends a big thanks to Mr. Bill for filling in as head coach! With his mad skills and history of the game, it was no wonder we came out victorious! Scorers were Emily Jackson and Molly Gotell. Thanks again, Mr. Bill.
