Happy Birthday to Holly Patridge!

Welcome to Jared Cheverie, Vanessa Foster, and Kirk White who are guest teachers with us today.

So far, “Spread the Net” has counted $238.88 raised. The top three classes were Mr. Harper’s ($61.33), Mme Flynn ($40), and Mr. Zver ($32.43). For any classes who would like to continue contributing, the collection will go on after Christmas.

Any classes that have not passed in their SADD tiles, please do this during A Block. There will be a short SADD meeting during A Block.

 

In the spirit of Christmas, Thursday’s winner of the book Twilight was Stephen LeLacheur. Stephen, please see Mrs. Killeen in the Library as soon as possible for your free book. Students, be sure to visit the Library, sign out a book or return an overdue book for a ballot on a chance to win a $10 gift card today.

A silver cuff bracelet with turquoise on it was lost outside the school on Wednesday. If you found this bracelet, please return it to the office – an award is being offered for it’s return!

Alumni Basketball Games are being held this evening in the MRHS gym. Come and watch former Vice Principal, John Munro, Holland College Hurricane player Rodney Myers, former MRHS athlete of the year, Alana Murphy, Ladies Basketball Coach, Amy Beck, and many more show their stuff on the court! Women’s game begins at 6:00 p.m. and Men’s game begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available through any present basketball player or at the door (children under 12 are free). All proceeds from the games will help support this year’s teams. See you there!

  • Grade Twelve students applying to UPEI should note that representatives from UPEI will be here today to answer any questions about the application process, scholarships, residence, etc. The rep will be available during B Block in Ms. Beaton’s room, M111. Students are expected to go to B Block; and if they can be excused, then proceed to M111.
  • There will be a Europe Trip meeting at 12:00 noon in Mme Flynn’s room. Attendance is mandatory!
  • Knitters will meet at 11:38 in Mme Flynn’s room.
  • Wrestlers will practice today from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Montague Consolidated. This is your last practice before Christmas Break. Your next practice will be on Monday, January 5th, from 3:30 to 5:00, at Montague Consolidated School.

A New Year’s Badminton Fun Tournament will be held on Sunday, January 4, at Kensington Senior High School. Students from Grades Seven through Twelve are invited to sign up for singles only competition, round robin separated by grades. Entry fee is $20; please call Andrew or Mark at 368-1000 (or email home@brownsvw.ca) to register. Cash prizes.

Congratulations to Ms. Christie Beck, Mr. Jonathan McInnis and all the music and choir students for the excellent concert held here last evening. It was a terrific show!

Staff are reminded to contact Kelly in the office this morning if you plan on attending the Christmas Dinner at noon. Leadership students are reminded of your duties today.

All students in Mr. Bill McKinnon’s Tourism and Hospitality class must meet in Room M102 this morning at break. This is to confirm your participation in the Christmas dinner today.

SADD students will be around this morning to hand out ceiling tiles for the SADD home room contest.

“Spread the Net” needs your help! Keep collecting for your home room contest. There’s a special prize for the winning home room. Let’s fill that bucket in the Library!

Teachers: Please remind all of your choir students to go to the cafeteria at 11:15 to warm up for their performance at today’s Christmas dinner.

There will be no Ball Hockey game today, so the game of “The Orange Blooded Cougars” against “The Breakfast Club” will be on Wednesday. Monday’s game of “The Bad Horses” against “The Fuji Tribe” will be replayed on Thursday, and this is due to lack of participation. Just a note that if not enough players can show up to play, then that team shall not be entered into the playoffs.

Congratulations to the Women’s Basketball team on a very successful tournament. The women lost to the eventual champions in the cross-over round. Pugwash went on to beat Westisle in the final.

Congratulations to Sam Parent who has won a Canadian Parents for French Scholarship to attend Encounters With Canada in Ottawa in the new year. Félicitations!

The Jingle Bell Cash Spiel at Summerside Silver Fox Curling Club was won by the Montague Junior Men’s team: Kevin Rice, Keagan Matheson, Mark Nabuurs and Matthew Nabuurs. Congratulations, guys!

Any teachers taking their classes to the game this afternoon must accompany their students. As well, classes must be there before the 2:00 pm start so everyone can get settled. The Choir will be busking in downtown Charlottetown, outside Confederation Centre of the Arts, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Come out and support your choir! Choir members should remember to dress warmly since you’ll be spending all of your busking time downtown.

Early School Closure

The Eastern School District has informed us that classes will be dismissed three hours early today.

Montague Regional High School buses will be leaving the school at 12:15.

Students should note that tomorrow will be a D-C Day.
