Happy Birthday to Jacob Jamieson!

Welcome to Amanda MacDonald and Lauretta Bertrand who are guest teachers with us today.

Congratulations to the Field Hockey Team who won the Bronze medal yesterday with a 1-0 victory over Bluefield! Molly Gotell scored the game winner. Playoff All-Star for Montague was Sara Walsh. Provincial All-Stars were Marina MacAulay, Laura Mooney and Nicole Mooney.

The Men’s Soccer Team played a great game last night but lost in a shoot-out to Bluefield after double overtime. The Vikings never quit, playing hard to the end. Robert Christensen was outstanding in the net! Adam Fitzpatrick scored at the end of regulation time to force the game into overtime. Come out and cheer on the boys on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. as they play Charlottetown Rural for the Bronze medal. Good luck, Vikings!

Maddie Jordan is asked to please see Ms. Hayden-Ward at first break today.

Holly Hoyles, Heather MacDonald and Mitch Bingley are asked to please see Mrs. Killeen in the Library as soon as possible.

From the Guidance Department: Montague Regional has two open spots for students wishing to take part in Encounters With Canada at the Terry Fox Youth Centre in Ottawa. Any student in Grade Eleven or Twelve, who is willing to attend this year, should see Mr. Armstrong before the end of the day.

  • All ringette players are to go to Mr. Killeen’s room, M307, at 12:00 noon today for a very important meeting. Attendance is mandatory!

SADD’s “Quick, Click Buckle Up Contest” will be taking place on Monday and Tuesday from 11:50 until the end of lunch break, weather permitting.

The UPEI Wind Symphony is performing a concert on Thursday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest United Church. Admission is $5.00. Our school band is opening the concert. Be sure to check out this fantastic group!

Yearbooks will be on sale this evening, and again on Friday, at Parent Teacher Interviews. They will also be sold all next week at lunchtime. Cost is $40 and students should note that books will not be sold after Friday, November 14th. So you have two weeks to get in your orders!

One of the requirements of the program is fifty hours of volunteer work with the mentally handicapped. An opportunity to obtain these hours has arisen through Special Olympics. See Mr. Armstrong for details.

 

Yearbooks will be on sale on Thursday evening and again on Friday, at Parent Teacher Interviews. They will be on sale all next week at lunchtime, as well. Cost is $40 and students should note that books will not be sold after next Friday, November 7th.

Happy Birthday to John Andreu and Ashleigh Stead!

Welcome to Paula Johnston, Rob Deacon, Amanda Purchase, Lisa Cooper, Donna White, Amanda MacDonald, Robert Higgins, Denise McGillivray, and Ruth Beck who are guest teachers with us today.

The Men’s Soccer team played a great game last night, winning in a shoot out after double overtime. At the end of regular play, it was tied 1-1 with Matt Patterson scoring the goal. Evan Forrester, Adam Fitzpatrick, Aaron Fitzpatrick, Catlin Keefe and Greg Clark all scored in the shoot out. Robert Christensen stopped a bullet of a shot, crushing TOSH’s chances of moving on. Good luck to the boys on Wednesday when they play Bluefield in the semi-final match!

The Field Hockey team lost 2-0 to TOSH yesterday. They will play Wednesday at UPEI at 5:00 p.m against Bluefield for the Bronze.

Mrs. Killeen extends a “thank you” to all staff and students for participating in the 4th Annual Million Minutes Literacy Challenge. As a school, we read for a total of 32,489 minutes (so far), beating our total from last year. Province-wide results should be available by this afternoon. Great job! Teachers who still have Million Minutes sheets should send them to the Library directly following announcements. Congratulations to Laura MacRae who was the only person to guess all staff correctly in the “Guess Who’s Reading” bulletin board. Laura, see Mrs. Killeen today for your gift card to Chapters. Stay tuned for another draw on Thursday. For a ballot, just sign out a book from the Library.

The Ladies Field Hockey and Ladies Soccer teams will be leaving at 3:45 from the Main Student Entrance for their playoff games at Cornwall Turf.

Members of the Men’s Soccer team will be hosting their playoff game today. Boys, please listen to announcements regarding what time you are to leave for the Complex.

Ladies Volleyball: Girls should note that there is no Volleyball after school today; be prepared for a practice tomorrow from 5:15 to 7:00 p.m.

In celebration of National School Library Day today, the 4th Annual Million Minutes Literacy Challenge is happening in all schools across PEI. This was very successful last year (1,334,671 minutes read in total). Teachers, you’ll find a hot pink tally sheet to keep track of the minutes read in each class. Read as much and whatever you can! Sheets will be collected at the end of the day today. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Killen.

All Europe Trip Students who have orders but have not yet handed in their items to Mme Flynn for the magazine/calendar/cards fund-raiser must do so immediately. The last order is going out today!

Grade Ten Student Council Representative elections were held yesterday. Thanks to all candidates for running. At the end of the tallying, it came down to a very, very close vote. This year’s Grade Ten Representatives are Patrick Matheson and Ben Nabuurs. Congratulations and thank you!

Tryouts for the 2009 Provincial Boys Under 16 All-Star Soccer Team get underway from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, October 25, at the Cornwall Turf Field. On Sunday, October 26, the tryout time is 1 to 3 pm at the Cornwall Turf Field. All players born in 1993 or later are welcome to try out. Further tryouts will be held at the Cornwall field on November 8 and 9 from 4 to 6 pm, on both days.

Montague Midget “AA” practice/tryout will be held at Iceland tomorrow – Thursday, October 23, at 8:10 p.m.

Congratulations to the Field Hockey Team who finished the regular season yesterday with a 4-2 victory over Bluefield. Goal scorers were Kassie Hicken, Nicole Mooney, Laura Mooney, and Jenna MacLellan. Great game in the net by Victoria Leard. Ladies should note that you have a practice today after school.

  • A representative from Mount Allison University will be here on Friday, October 17, in A Block. Anyone wishing to meet with this representative must sign up with Mr. Armstrong by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
