Happy Birthday to Ryan Kelly and Matthew MacDonald!

Rugby: There will be a short Men’s Rugby meeting today at first break in Mr. Munn’s room for all players, as well as any potential players. All are welcome.

The following students are asked to please see Ms. MacLeod with your money owed by Wednesday (NO LATER): Sarah MacPhee, John MacCormack, and Adam Ross.

Parents are reminded of the meeting scheduled for tomorrow evening - that’s Tuesday, April 1, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. This meeting is for parents of students who will be entering Grade Ten in September. Information will be provided to help with the process of course selections for the upcoming school year. All are welcome.

There will be no Knitting Club at lunch today as Mme Flynn will be too busy collecting final payments for the French trip (today and tomorrow at lunch time). Have all Vesseys orders been handed in? These will be sent out today. Knitters will meet next Monday at lunch time.

The National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, the Ottawa Police Service, and partnering agencies are selecting 20 students to represent Canada at the Youth Advisory Congress on Online Safety and Security in London, England, in July of 2008.

The Canadian delegates will receive all-expense paid trips to Ottawa, Ontario, and London, England, to collaborate with youth from the United Kingdom, European Union, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the United States; and to participate in IYAC Workshops, panels, and activities to make important decisions about online safety and security.

There will be block meetings for peer helpers today. B Block peer helpers will meet at 11:15 and not at the beginning of class.

We extend a huge thank you to the following individuals for their recent book donations to the Library: Jacob Young, Mary Ellen Lowther, Charlie and Alana Trainor. Mrs. Killeen appreciates the donation of such great materials.

There will be a full Student Council meeting today at lunch! Everyone must attend.

Any staff member or student who may have a set of Anne of Green Gables hair braids, please see Mrs. Killeen as soon as possible.

Last evening, the MRHS Debate team defeated Souris in two debates with a third contest ending in a draw. Congratulations to the speakers who led Montague: Cody Annear, Harris Campbell, Nick Melnyk, Donald MacNearney, Terri McGarry, Megan Kaderly, and Todd MacLeod.

The Southeast Environmental Association invites everyone to a Public Information Meeting on April 2, 2008, at the Boardroom of the Health Services Building, 126 Douses Road, Montague. Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and will include a presentation on Nutrient Enrichment in Surface Water and a report on the Progress of the Nitrate Commission.

Upcoming Zone Tournament hosted by MRHS is scheduled for April 10th. PEISAA Provincials are set for Friday, April 18th, at Gulf Shore.

The “Salvaging Sisterhood” Group will meet today during A Block.

On Monday evening, the Kings County Kings Midget AA Girls Hockey Team defeated Summerside in double over-time 1-0. Next weekend, they will represent PEI at the Atlantics in St. Andrews. Congratulations, ladies! Included on this team from our school are Rebeccah Hume, Janelle MacLeod, Jordan Miller, Nicole Mooney, Laura Mooney, Hope Klein, Molly Gotell, Jessica Hicken, Megan Collings, and Larrisa Dingwell.

A representative from Parks Canada will be in the Guidance Office today over the noon hour. Anyone interested in learning about summer employment opportunities with Parks Canada should drop by.

A representative from UPEI will be in the Guidance Office on Friday, March 28th, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. This meeting is for those who possess an average between 65% and 70% and who have applied or will be applying to UPEI. Information will be available about UPEI’s Transition Program, which might allow students who don’t have a 70% to still attend UPEI on a part-time basis.

Parenting Information Session: A parenting information session will be held at Access PEI Boardroom on March 28, 2008, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with Carmina Gaite and Debbie Acorn. They want to hear from parents on issues that are identified as problems. Snacks and coffee will be provided. Today, the MRHS SADD Group will be hosting students from other Island High Schools in the first MRHS SADD Extravaganza. We would like to welcome Corporal Tim Lynch and Provincial SADD Coordinator, Jodi Harper, who will be taking part in our activities.

Badminton: There will be Juvenile Badminton on Monday and Wednesday (March 10 & 12). The Seniors will go on Tuesday, March 11. All three days will be 3:15 to 5:15 p.m.
