Happy Birthday to Pierce Hart!

There will be an important French Trip meeting today at 12:00 noon. Final fundraiser will be launched and important information relayed - attendance is mandatory.

Congratulations to the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for winning last night. The Women out-scored Souris High by 34 points. The Men’s team played Charlottetown Rural with a final score of 69-56. Both teams advance to play at UPEI today.

Mrs. Killeen’s Grade 10 English 431 class is instructed NOT to go to the Library immediately following lunch. Instead report to the usual classroom.

Students who made the First Semester Honour Roll will be pleased to know that the lists have been posted in the main lobby. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Ryan Kelly, Jesse MacDonald, and Matt Morrison who were heard on Ocean Radio yesterday morning. These Grade 12 students were interviewed by Kerri Wynn MacLeod, a former student of MRHS. Great job!

There will be a Girls Group meeting this morning during A Block in the Health Room.

Travis Crane, Mark Schmeisser, and Donald Burke are asked to please see Mrs. Killeen as soon as possible.

Grade 12 Students should note that a Scholarship update is posted on the Guidance Office Bulletin board and was distributed to the Grade 12 Home Rooms on Wednesday. You are asked to check these lists to see if any of these scholarships apply to you.

Those students who indicated to Mrs. McInnis that you were going to write the Maritime Math Competition must get a permission slip for your C and D Block teachers to sign. Please see Mrs. McInnis this morning.

Grads: We need to know about your intentions regarding the trip to Brookvale. So, there will be a meeting today in Ms. Anderson’s office at 11:50 for all those who signed up for TUBING. See you there!

There will be a meeting for all Choir members in W204 at first break this morning.

Women’s Ensemble will not meet at lunch today.

SNAC Meeting will be held today at 12:00 noon in the gym.

There will be Rugby World Cup videos playing at lunch in Mr. Killeen’s room for anyone interested.

Band Students: There will be Concert Band today after school instead of Jazz Combo. It is your last practice before you perform next Tuesday at the Confederation Center. Students are asked to bring in their permission slips tomorrow.

Come out tonight and support your Vikings Basketball teams! Both the Men and Ladies will play home games for the quarter finals this evening. Ladies play Souris at 5:00 p.m. and Men play Charlottetown Rural at 7:00 p.m. These are the last home games for our teams, so make sure you come out!

Staff: Two grey remotes were turned into Mrs. Killeen. One is a Magnasonic, the other Toshiba. Please see Mrs. Killeen if they’re yours.

A “Playstation” game was lost earlier this week in the school building. If you find it, could you please return it to Mme Flynn.

All schools in the Eastern School District are closed today.

All MRHS basketball games scheduled for today (Wednesday Feb. 27) are cancelled. All games will now be played on Thursday February 28 at the same times!!

The Men’s and Ladies’ Basketball teams played intense games at home Friday night against Westisle. Both teams pulled off a win with only a one point difference. Both the Men and Ladies will play home games for the quarter finals on Wednesday night. Ladies play Souris at 5:00 p.m. and men play Charlottetown Rural at 7:00 p.m. Come out and support your Vikings Basketball teams.

Congratulations to Sarah Marie Sandford’s Jazz Combo who performed on Sunday afternoon at the Pizza Delight to raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation. The group included Sarah Marie Sandford on drums, Donald MacNearney on bass, April Flaglor and Todd Campbell on trombone, Chelsey Butler and Ann Sophie Winter on sax, Aidan Angus and Sarah Gamble on trumpet, as well as an alumni student, Dylan Ansems on guitar. It was a fine performance!

This is a reminder to students and staff regarding the Winter Fun Activities this afternoon during last block. Students will go to their C Block classes for attendance and then they will be released to take part in activities at either the Iceland Rink, Iceland Bowling Lanes, the Cafeteria or the Gymnasium.

Teachers are reminded to check the Winter Activity Supervision sheet to see where they are expected to be on duty. Those teachers who are on prep period are asked to arrive at the venues early in order to have students supervised when they arrive.

“The Show” is happening again! This benefit concert takes place this Sunday, February 24, at the Lower Level Pizza Delight in Montague. Featured acts include J. K. Lovely, Tim Chaisson, and Montague’s own What Exactly! Tickets are $10 at the door; all proceeds going to The Children’s Wish Foundation. That’s this Sunday from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. All ages welcome!

This Yard Sale will cover the entire area of Eastern Kings and the planners are inviting vendors from all over PEI to set up in multiple sites. The Hypnotist performance is tonight at 7:00 p.m. The doors close at 6:50 p.m. Tickets will be on sale today at lunch for $7.00, and will be sold at the door for $8.00.

There will be a short Student Council meeting today at 11:45 in Mr. Killeen’s room.

The Debate Club will meet today after school. This is a very important meeting. All members are asked to please attend.

The Men’s Basketball team fell short in overtime yesterday to Westisle 70 - 64. Top scorers for the men were Nick Melnyk with 23 points, Eric Hameline with 20, and Damon Ansems with 15. Both the Women’s and Men’s team travel to Souris today.

The students in Career Futures and Hospitality and Tourism were asked to go to the main student entrance directly following announcements. Teachers, these students are attending a job symposium at Holland College this morning. These students are scheduled to be back by first class this afternoon.

Congratulations to our Men’s Basketball Team who won the Basketball Tournament held at Bluefield High School this past weekend.

High School Musical: All students involved in the musical must meet today at 12:00 noon sharp for an important meeting in Room W206 (Mr. Nicholson’s room). This includes anyone who wants to work behind the stage as a crew member. costume person, make-up artist, etc. Bring your lunches.
