Notice to Students Sent Home Due to Power Outage

Due to the wide spread power outage on Wednesday, January 30, Montague Regional closed at 2:00 p.m. Many students had not finished their afternoon exams. These students will have an opportunity to complete those exams on the Administration Day (Tuesday, February 5), from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. All buses will be making their regular runs on that day. Students are encouraged to check in with their teachers regarding this situation.

Students who wish to take advantage of this opportunity to finish their exams should be at the school (in the same exam room) on Tuesday, ready to begin writing at 9:00 a.m.

Exam Schedule Revisions

Exam Days will now be referred to as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4. All exams are scheduled to be written on four days.

Day 1 Exams (today) and Day 2 Exams (tomorrow) will be written with no changes in the original schedule.

The morning of Day 3 has no changes.

The afternoon of Day 3 has all the exams previously scheduled plus BIO621A and HIS621A have been added.

The morning of Day 4 has all the exams previously scheduled plus FRE521A and ENT521A have been added.

The afternoon of Day 4 has no changes, and that will be the last day of the exam schedule.  With no further school closures, Day 4 will be Monday, February 4, 2008.

If students were scheduled to write exams because of the “Ten Day Rule” in PED401, PED801, GEO531, or CMP801, they should see teachers today to reschedule.

January 29, 2008 - Change of Day 5 Exams!

All schools in the Eastern School District are closed today.

We will now proceed with a 4 day exam schedule.

DAY 1 through 4 exams will remain unchanged.

Exams previously scheduled for day 5 will now occur as follows:

Biology 621A and History 621A will occur DAY 3 in the PM

Entrepreneurship 521A and French 521A will occur on DAY 4 in the AM

Please check outside the main office for further details.

January 28, 2008 - Change in Exams

The Eastern School District has cancelled classes for today. Exams scheduled for today, Monday, will be written on Tuesday.

 The remainder of the exam schedule will be moved ahead by one day.

Happy Birthday to Amanda MacDonald!

Peer Helpers: All Peer Helpers must return their training manuals and textbooks to Ms. Beck immediately. Peer Helpers for next semester who have not yet done an interview with Ms. Beck must see her today to arrange an interview time.

Staff and Students: To avoid fines, please return overdue Library books to Mrs. Killeen as soon as possible.

Copying in the Library: It’s crunch time and students are getting their materials organized for exams! This is a reminder that students are required to pay for any photocopying and you should seek permission before using the machine.

Attention Athletes: Every four years, a male and female student athlete are selected to attend an Olympic Youth Camp held at the site of the Olympic Games during the entire two weeks of the games! Heather Moyse represented Canada as a youth delegate to the Atlanta Games. PEI will select the male and female delegate and these names will go to the Olymic Committee in Ottawa who will make the final national selections from the applications from each province and territory. PEI has a one in thirteen chance to have a male or female represent the Province. This opportunity is available to any student 16 to 18 years of age as of August 5, 2008. The deadline for application is February 27 and students interested should contact Miss Currie for more information.

Classes Cancelled - January 24, 2008

Due to the death of a staff member, there will be no classes at MRHS on Thursday, January 24, 2008.

All buses will run as usual and teachers will be available in the morning to help students prepare for final exams.

Happy Birthday to Trent Johnston and Veronique Plourde

We extend a welcome today to guest teachers Ms. Amy Beck, Ms. Rachel Colwill, and Ms. Paula Johnston.

Students should note that the boy’s washroom near the computer lab will be closed this morning only. It is to be used by the Child Care class.

Mme. Flynn would like to see all French trip travelers at 12:00 noon today. Attendance is mandatory!!

Grade Twelve students are reminded of the Grad Activity Committee meeting at 11:40 today in Room M110. See all of you there.

Classes Cancelled Tomorrow: Out of respect for the family of the late Donalda MacDonald, our School Administrative Assistant since 1995, and to allow staff to attend the funeral service of their colleague, there will be no classes for students tomorrow. All teachers will be available at the school during regular morning class time on Thursday; and those not able to attend the funeral will also be available for the afternoon. School Buses will be running as usual, and students are encouraged to use Thursday for extra help in their courses and to prepare for exams which start next Monday. We appreciate your understanding and support of these arrangements.

The Library will not be open Thursday after school, so Mrs. Killeen can attend a meeting. Please plan your day accordingly.

The Ladies washroom on the bottom main floor by the cafeteria will be closed this morning for the drama production.

There is a late bus today. Graham Larsen’s bus #428 is running on a one hour delay today.

Staff should note that there will be a brief staff meeting today at 3:20 p.m. in Room M102.

All Choir members must bring all First Semester music to today’s rehearsal.

There will not be early morning Choir tomorrow.

All cast members of The High School Musical are reminded that they have a very important musical rehearsal tomorrow 3:15 to 5:00 p.m.

Wrestling: Canada Games Wrestling Practice is scheduled for today at 4:30 at Montague Consolidated School. It is very important that ALL Canada Games athletes attend, in preparation for the upcoming Eastern Canadians in Fredericton, NB.

Band Students: There will be Concert Band tomorrow after school. You will be working on Prelude and Fugue and a new piece of music. Sectionals are optional this week due to exams next week. Please see your sectional leaders if you would like to rehearse. Trombones and Saxophones are on Wednesday and the rhythm section is on Friday during lunch.

Classes are operating on a one hour delay today.

The Ladies Basketball Team played very well in their tournament in Pugwash on the weekend to finish third. Congratulations to Alana Murphy, Becca Walsh and Bethany (Spidey) Drover for receiving “Player of the Game”. Also, congrats to Bethany Drover for shooting a three-pointer at the end of the last game from half. Ladies play again tonight at Colonel Gray, and Wednesday and Thursday nights at home.

Knitting Club will meet today at lunch,  but then not again until second semester.

All Quebec trip students are reminded that your January payment of $100 is due today. Please see Mme Flynn at break or lunch. Do not make her chase you! Also, there are still boxes of chocolate to be sold. Come get yours today!

Canadian Chess Challenge: The Provincial Scholastic Chess Tournament for the Canadian Chess Challenge sponsored by the Chess n’ Math Association, will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2008. This tournament is open to all Island chess players. Students will compete by Grade level (Grades 1-12). The winner from each Grade level form the PEI Chess Team, and are expected to represent PEI at the national finals in Edmonton, Alberta in May of 2008. Registration forms are available in the office. More information is posted in the main school lobby or by contacting Fred McKim at 368-0092.

Canadian Chess Challenge: The Provincial Scholastic Chess Tournament for the Canadian Chess Challenge sponsored by the Chess n’ Math Association, will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2008. This tournament is open to all Island chess players. Students will compete by Grade level (Grades 1-12). The winner from each Grade level form the PEI Chess Team, and are expected to represent PEI at the national finals in Edmonton, Alberta in May of 2008. Registration forms are available in the office.
