Happy Birthday to Evan Forrester and Alexander MacLean!
We extend a welcome today to guest teachers Ms. Gaylene Nicolson, Ms. Nicole Jackson, Mr. Trevor MacDonald, and Ms. Denise McGillivray.
Parents and students are reminded of the P.E.I.T.F. Teachers’ Convention on Thursday and Friday of this week. There will be no classes on October 18 and 19, 2007.
Parents are also reminded of Parent Teacher Interviews scheduled for Thursday evening of October 25, and during the day on Friday, October 26. There will be no school for students on October 26.
Grade Twelve students who are booking appointments for grad photos at locations outside of the school should remember to reserve a grad gown at the office. There are a limited supply of gowns to borrow, so grads should make sure that one if available on the date of your photo sitting. There is a $25.00 deposit required to borrow a gown and sash; $20 is refunded when the gown is returned.
Fall athletes are reminded to pick up their light bulbs today at noon in the Phys. Ed. area.
November book orders are available from Mrs. Killeen in the Library.
Members of the Women’s Soccer Team are reminded that there is a mandatory thirty-minute run today. Meet at the front doors of the school at 3:15 p.m.
Knitting Club is on for today. Bring your lunch, needles and skein of cotton to M301 at the lunch bell!
The Men’s Volleyball team is to set up the nets after school today at 3:15. All players should be dressed and ready to go by 4:30 today.
Tyler Morrison, Kim Myers and Adam Ross are asked to please see Mr. Killeen today at lunch.
Students involved in this year’s French Trip are meeting at 12:00 to get more supplies and drop off money.
Attention Honor’s Band Students: There will be a rehearsal today for Honor’s Band students at 11:45. All members are asked to come.
The first Yearbook meeting will be held on Wednesday at 3:15 in Ms. McLane’s room. All are welcome.
Members of the Photography Club is reminded of their photo excursion Tuesday after school at 4:00 p.m. In case of rain, this event is cancelled.
The French Conversation Club is Tuesday from 11:40 to 12:00.
Band Members: Concert Band will be on Wednesday. Jazz Band is cancelled this week due to the Teachers’ Conference.
Girls interested in playing Basketball this season are asked to put your name on the sign-up sheet in the gymnasium. Please check out the schedule while you are down there. If you have any questions, ask Ms. Garland or Ms. Amy Beck.
The Reader’s Circle will meet on Wednesday at the lunch bell. Bring your lunch to M301.

Just a reminder that there is a French Trip meeting at 12:00 today.
The Choir should meet in the music room at 11:38. Bring your lunches and don’t be late.
The Choir will be travelling this afternoon to Georgetown to record for the Children’s Wish Foundation CD. Teachers will note that the names of Choir students will be on the absentee sheet. Please do not mark them absent.
The Women’s Volleyball Team should be excused from last block today. Girls are to make sure that they check into class for attendance purposes.
The Women’s Soccer Team will be participating in a team run on Monday, October 15. All girls are strongly urged to attend. The girls will meet at the front doors of the school at 3:30 p.m.
Attention Band Students:
- Sectionals are cancelled for next week. Instead, Honors Band students are asked to come to the music room for rehearsal at 11:45 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- Also, our Band rehearsals are being changed. Jazz Band will now be on Thursdays at 3:15 and Concert Band will be on Wednesdays at 3:15.
Holland College is holding an Open House and National Skilled Trades Day on Monday, November 5, 2007. This will provide a great opportunity to learn more about Holland College programs, and the training that is offered in these areas. If you are interested in attending this event, please sign up with Mr. Armstrong in the Guidance Office by next Tuesday, October 16.

Men’s and Women’s Golf: Congratulations to the Men’s and Women’s Golf team who competed in the Provincial Championships on Tuesday. The Men’s AA Team tied for third spot, but finished fourth in tie breakers. Special congratulations to Emily Doyle who won the Women’s Individual Bronze Medal and Ryan Chapman who won the Individual Gold Medal in the “AA” Division. Thanks for a good season to all the golf participants.
The MRHS Soccer Team lost to Bluefield last evening; however, the girls put in a good effort. The girls will practice today t 3:30 at the complex. We hope to see everyone there.
Students are reminded that Knitting Club is a go for today at 12:00 in M301. Come find out what it’s all about.
Peer Helpers should pick up their new scenarios from the “Assignments” box, if they haven’t already done so.

Members of the Choir are reminded that they MUST return their release forms to Ms. Beck in order to travel to Georgetown to record tomorrow.
There is a French Trip meeting at 12:00 tomorrow to launch our next fundraiser. Bring in your walkathon and chocolate bar money PLEASE.
There will be Dodgeball starting October 23. The team sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board by the gym. There can be five-six people per team, and teams must be signed up by October 17th!

Any staff members who are interested in receiving an Eastern Graphic newspaper here at the school should contact one of Educational Assistants as soon as possible. One of our students will be selling this weekly newspaper and can deliver it right to your classroom door!
Attention Band Students: This week, Jazz Band will be on Wednesday and Concert Band will be on Thursday, starting at 3:15 p.m. Honor’s Band students are asked to see Ms. LaFrance if they would like extra rehearsals. Sectional rehearsals are as follows: Trumpets on Wednesday and Saxaphones on Friday at 12:00 sharp.
Debate Club will meet today at 3:15 in Mr. Lea’s room.
The S.A.V.E. group will meet at 11:50 in Mr. Lea’s room.
The MRHS Women’s Soccer team will be heading to Bluefield this evening, with the game set to start at 5:00 p.m. The girls will be leaving the school at 2:55. It is the player’s own responsibility to make sure that she is dressed and ready to leave at this time. Good luck to everyone!

Grade Ten Student Council Representative elections will be taking place next week. Interested candidates need to pick up a nomination form from Adam Ross, Tyler Morrison, Kim Myers, or Mr. Killeen. Completed forms must be handed in by Friday at 3:06 p.m.
Montague is looking for Youth Bowlers. If you are between the ages of 4 and 18 and looking for a fun winter sport, you should check it out! Bowlers meet every Saturday… at12:30 p.m. for ages four to ten, and 2:00 p.m. for ages eleven to eighteen. No equipment is needed and registration is only $20 for the season, with a $2 per game fee on Saturdays.

Do you love to read? Do you long to discuss great books with others? Here’s your chance! Readers’ Circle meets once a month to discuss and share great literature. We’ll start next week. Give your name to Mme Flynn if you are interested.
Knitting Club will finally get off the ground on Thursday at 12:00. We’ll discuss materials needed for our first wee project!
Book Orders will be placed from the Library on Friday. Submit orders and money to Mrs. Killeen by that day.

Any teachers who need assistance connecting their computers should let Ms. Garland know by lunch today.
Three will be Women’s Ensemble from 11:38 to 12:00 today.
Reminder that Photography Club starts today after school in M308. Bring your favorite photos. If you are interested but can’t make it today, sign up with either Mrs. Lowther or Ms. Garland.

A representative from St. Thomas University will be in the Guidance Office today at approximately 12:30. Grade 12 students wishing to attend should speak to Mr. Armstrong prior to that time. St. Thomas will be returning here for College and University Day on Thursday, November 1st.
A representative from Junior Achievement will be at the top of the stairs over the noon hour and looks forward to meeting students being involved in Junior Achievement this year.
French Conversation Club won’t be meeting today - postponed until next Wednesday.
This is a reminder that all French trip students will be called out at 1:30 p.m. for the World Record Walk. Students are to go to the main doors when you hear the announcement and be ready to walk. Teachers should note that the names will be on the absentee sheet.

October is International Walk to School Month. Although for most of our students, this is impossible, many can and should walk more often. We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to walk, bike or participate in an active mode of transportation to get to and from school. Get active, go green!
