Happy Birthday to Ashley Byrne, Matthew Emery, Shawn Farrell, Brady Fraser, Katie MacLean, Amanda Mullally, and George Richards!
We extend a welcome today to guest teachers Gaylene Nicholson and Trevor MacDonald. Also we welcome Kelly Matheson who will be filling in for Donalda MacDonald in the office for first semester.
There will be an assembly during B Block this morning. Students are to go to their B block classes and will be called to the assembly from there.
There will be choir after school on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:00 in the music room. All are welcome! See Ms. Beck if you have any questions.
Jazz and Concert Bands start this week! Jazz Band will be on Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30 and Concert Band will be on Thursday from 3:15 to 4:30. Please see Ms. LaFrance if you haven’t signed up yet.The Debate Club will met on Wednesday at 3:15 in W304. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lea.
There will be a French Trip meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12:00 in Mme Flynn’s room.
Attention Women’s Soccer Players:
- Jerseys will be passed out during the lunch hour. Everyone must obtain a jersey at this time.
- Shelley Acorn and Ms. Peggy Flynn will be collecting $20 athletic fees and consent forms throughout the day. Remember, if both of these items are not passed in by the end of the day, you will NOT be playing.
- Tonight, MRHS will be facing TOSH at the soccer complex. The game starts at 5:30. All girls should be ready to start warming up at 5:00 sharp.
Other Athletic Department Notes:
- Men’s and Women’s Golf: Tryout start this afternoon at 2:30 at Brudenell. All participants must sign out after third block with a note. For more information, see Mr. Elsinga. Green fees are $30 each round if you are not a member.
- Any students interested in score-keeping for Volleyball games should meet in the gym today at 11:45.
- The Men’s Soccer team plays TOSH today at 5:30 at the soccer complex. Players are asked to be ready at 4:00 pm. Uniforms can be picked up today at lunch.
- The bus for the volleyball teams will be leaving at 4:30 sharp from the student entrance today. Everyone should have some food for supper/pre-game meal before getting on the bus.
- All fall sports teams are asked to come get their uniforms at lunch today. The schedule is as follows:
- Women’s Soccer - 11:40
- Men’s Soccer - 11:50
- Women’s Volleyball - 11:44
- Men’s Volleyball - 12:00
- Field Hockey - 12:05
- Field Hockey and both Soccer teams play at home at 5:00 pm today. Come cheer on our teams.

Happy Birthday to Matthew Lundrigan and Josie Wood!
The Library is closed this morning, but it will re-open at 11:32 am. Study Block and Peer Helpers should still go to the library. We would like to remind students that the library is closed for C Block every day.
Home room teachers will be sending home three different forms this morning, to be checked, read, and signed by a parent/guardian. Students are asked to bring these back as soon as possible. Parents should check over the student information very carefully, making any changes to the data on that sheet. It is very important that the school has the correct address and contact phone numbers for each student in the school.
Staff participating in the baby shower today at lunch, should review the sign up sheet in the staff room before the end of break today (and see if it applies to you).
Teachers are reminded to go to the cafeteria today, before noon, to have your photos taken.
Today’s special in the Cafeteria is spaghetti with meat or vegetarian sauce, garlic bread stick, with a small white milk for $4.00.
The first Montreal/Quebec City French trip meeting will be held at 12:00 noon in Mme Flynn’s room.Men’s and Women’s Golf: All golfers who wish to try out for the MRHS golf teams on Monday and Tuesday must see Mr. Elsinga today to make arrangements.

- Any Grade Twelve students planning to attend college or university in the United States must write SAT’s. Please inform Mr. Armstrong of your intention today.
- The King’s County Memorial Hospital and the Riverview Manor are seeking students aged fifteen and above who are interested in the Junior Volunteer Program. Please give your name to Mr. Armstrong by Tuesday, September 18, if you are interested.
We still have openings for the Terry Fox Youth Centre in Ottawa. Anyone interested should see Mr. Armstrong as soon as possible.

Happy Birthday to Jacob Evans and Mr. Ralph Jamieson!
Today’s special in the Cafeteria is a grilled chicken breast on a bun, side pasta, salad or fries, with a small white milk for $4.00.Students who are scheduled for a Study Block for first semester met with Mr. Douglas in the cafeteria this morning. Any students who missed this meeting should stop by the office and speak to Mr. Douglas.
Teachers are asked to stop by the Staff Room today to sign something there today.Teachers should hand in the computer use forms to Ms. Garland as soon as possible.
Public Meeting: The School Board for the Eastern School District will be holding a meeting to receive public consultation on the location of the new Montague Regional High School on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, beginning at 7:00 pm at MRHS. Members of the public are welcome to attend.Reminder that women’s soccer tryouts are today at the Soccer Complex. Be ready to go at 3:30.
There will be a French trip meeting at 12:00 tomorrow in Mme. Flynn’s room.
Any students interested in joining the Athletic Council should attend a meeting Friday, September 14, during the morning break. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please see Ms. Currie or Ms. MacKinnon.

- The King’s County Memorial Hospital and the Riverview Manor are seeking students aged fifteen and above who are interested in the Junior Volunteer Program. Two shifts of three hours each are expected during the week, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Holidays and weekends are also available, up to four hours per day. Duties will include assisting patients, helping in making beds, serving meals, interacting with the elderly, running errands, etc. Community Service Bursary hours are available. Please give your name to Mr. Armstrong by Tuesday, September 18, if you are interested.
Kings County Midget AAA Hockey Tryouts: Following are the first on-ice tryouts for the 2007-2008 Kings County Midget AAA hockey team: Saturday, September 15 (8:00 to 9:00 pm), Sunday, September 16 (9:00 to 10:00 pm), and Wednesday, September 19 (9:30 to 10:30 pm). All will take place at the Pownal Sports Center. Cost of each session is $7; and all new and returning players must attend. Contact Adam at 940-5432 for more information.

Students and teachers are reminded that all students will have their photographs taken by Lifetouch on Wednesday, September 12th or Thursday, September 13th. Students are asked to have the flyer available on picture day for identification purposes.
Public Meeting: The School Board for the Eastern School District will be holding a meeting to receive public consultation on the location of the new Montague Regional High School on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, beginning at 7:00 pm at MRHS. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Anyone who wishes to make a presentation to the Board must submit a written request to the Board Chairperson or Superintendent by 4:00 pm on September 12.

Happy Birthday to Jessica Hicken!
Today’s Special in the Cafeteria is a grilled cheese sandwich with cream of tomato soup and a small white milk for $4.00. Gar’s express line will be open today, with Pizza, Garlic Fingers, etc.
Student Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 11:45 am in Room M307.Choir will be starting today at 3:30 in the music room (M316). Anyone who likes to sing is urged to attend. See Ms. Beck if you have any questions.
Any student interested in being a volunteer Library Monitor can pick up an application form in the Library from Mrs. Killeen. Also, book order forms are arriving very soon from Scholastic.
Teachers who have extra computer use forms should return them to Ms. Garland.

- Students are reminded of the new bell schedule this year; teachers will be reminding you of this for the first few days of classes.
First Break from 10:13 to 10:23 a.m.
Lunch from 11:38 a.m. to 12:26 p.m.
Afternoon Break from 1:41 to 1:51 p.m.
- There will be NO warning bells; students should be at your class rooms before the bell rings. If you are outside, start into the building in lots of time so you are not late.
- Students requesting course changes should write the request on their schedules which were distributed during home room classes. Make sure that a priority number is checked on the bottom on the sheet provided. Teachers and home room teachers must sign these forms before they are handed into the office. Students must follow their original course schedule until they are called down to the office to pick up an adjusted course schedule sheet.
- Attention to all students interested in band: Please see Ms. LaFrance to sign up. Concert Band will start on Thursday, September 20, and Jazz Band will start on Wednesday, September 19. Instrument rental fees need to be passed in by September 28. If you have any questions or problems, please see Ms. LaFrance.

Cancellation of Classes: Due to a sudden death of a student at Montague Regional High School, classes will be cancelled for Thursday and Friday, September 6th and 7th. Counsellors and school staff will be available at the school on both days for any students needing further support. Classes will begin on Monday, September 10, 2007.
