Home Room teachers are asked to pass their Student Fee envelopes in to Ms. McInnis today. Student fees will now be collected at the main office, not in home rooms.

Cookie Club will be meeting (just a “crumble) today at 12:00 noon in W105.

Students are reminded once again that there is a scent-free policy at Montague Regional. Students and staff are asked to refrain from using scented products; this includes the AXE body sprays for men. Many individuals are very sensitive to these strong chemical fragrances, so your cooperation would be appreciated.

All Choir members who will be working in the canteens must meet in W204 at 11:38 a.m.

The Men’s Soccer Team will be leaving class today at 1:00 p.m.

Sectional rehearsals for Jazz and Concert Band are as follows:

The SADD Group will be having a social today for all past members and anyone who wants to find out more about SADD, at 12:00 noon in M303 (across from the library).

Students are reminded of the very important French Trip meeting today at 11:55 in Mme Flynn’s room.

The Fall Fest Volunteer Meeting is today at 12:00 noon. If you are volunteering, you must be there.

Teachers, we are still looking for volunteers for Saturday with the Fall Fest. Please contact Ms. Currie or Ms. MacKinnon if you can help.

The Library will not be open after school today in order for Mrs. Killeen to attend a meeting in Charlottetown. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please plan your day for this.

There will be Women’s Ensemble today at 11:38 in the music room. Any girls are welcome to attend!

All members of the Choir are reminded to check the bulletin board outside the music room for the canteen schedule.

There is Cross Country practice today after school.

Grad write-ups for the yearbook are due tomorrow. Pass them into the office or email them to Adam Ross.

Registration for the 2007-2008 season of Belfast Ringette is being held on Thursday, September 27 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, September 29 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Belfast Rec Centre. For more information, please call Priscilla at 659-2542 or 962-3636, or Diane at 659-2890. Registration is the same as last year and a payment plan is available.

Student Council is putting on a BBQ today at lunchtime in front of the school - hot dogs and drinks available for $1.00 each.

Students are reminded to get their ideas for an acronym (a word formed from initials of other words) for the Reading Period in to Ms. Anderson by the end of this week. Be creative!

Mme Flynn is looking for fresh faces and ideas for the SWITCH group (that’s Students Working in Tobacco Can Help). It is a public awareness group dealing with tobacco issues. Today at 12:00 in M301.

There is a French trip meeting at 12:00 in Mme Flynn’s room on Thursday. bientôt!

There will be a S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) meeting today at 11:50 in Mr. Lea’s room (W304).

The Debate Club meets today at 3:15 in Mr. Lea’s room (W304).

Blood for Life group will be meeting at lunch, outside at the BBQ. Students will be deciding on a date for their first donation!

All those assigned to volunteer at the Fall Fest must be at a meeting at 12:00 in the gymnasium. You will receive your t-shirt, dance ticket and duties at that time.

Parents are reminded of the Parent Council meeting scheduled for this evening at 7:00 p.m.

Heckbert’s will be down in the Child Care room on the bottom floor of the wing, taking grad photos. Please check the list on the grad bulletin board outside Ms. Anderson’s room for your sitting time.

French Trip News - Deposits are due this Thursday, payable to Mme. Flynn. There is still chocolate available; come and get yours. The walkathon is next week - are you getting pledges? There are still a few spots available. See you know who!

Music Notes -

  • There will not be women’s ensemble today. It will begin on Thursday at lunch break.
  • There will be a very important choir rehearsal today at 3:30 p.m.

Any Grade 12 students interested in participating in the Student-Teacher Hockey Game to be held next month, please see Ms. Bethany MacLeod. She is only taking fifteen names, so the first students to pay their $5 fee, will make the team.

SPC Cards will be on sale today at the top of the stairs from 12:00 to 12:20 for $8.50 each.

If there is enough interest, we will be having a Battle of the Bands. Please contact Ms. Bethany MacLeod by this Friday (September 28) if you know of a band who would like to enter the contest.

Athletic Notes:

  • Men’s Volleyball will practice today at 3:20. If you cannot make it, please see Mr. Killeen.
  • The Men’s Soccer team lost 6-2 to Colonel Gray last night. Next practice is on Wednesday at 3:30 at the complex.
  • Congratulations to the Women’s Soccer team on a good effort last night. The team tried their best until the last whistle but unfortunately the result was disappointing for them. However, the girls can only go up from here. The team will practice at 3:30 this evening at the complex.
  • Shelley Acorn will continue to collect Fall Fest t-shirt fees which are $10.

Staff are reminded that there is a staff meeting today at 3:20 after school.

Parents are reminded of our first Parent Council meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m. in Room M102.

If any staff member picked up the TTFM envelope from last Monday’s staff meeting, could he/she please pass it on to Ms. Anderson. Thank you.

From the Guidance Office: A representative from Concordia University in Montreal will be in the Guidance Office during the first part of B Block today. If there are Grade 12 students interested in Concordia, they should go to the Guidance Office at the beginning of B Block.

Photocopying in the Library: All students are reminded that they require a note from their teacher for photocopying in the Library. Otherwise the cost is $0.10 per sheet.

The money must be paid before you will receive your t-shirt. Good luck to everyone!

Those athletes who want to participate in Cross Country MUST show up to train after school today and tomorrow at 3:20, meeting in the gym area. If you cannot make it, see Ms. Currie.

Men’s and Women’s Golf: All team members are reminded to turn in their permission forms to Mr. Elsinga today. There is a practice tomorrow at the academy, remember your quarters. Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday at Avondale, first tee times at 12:30.

French Trip News; Remember your first deposit of $125 is due this Thursday to Mme. Flynn. There are still chocolate bars left for those of you who would like more. Also, there are a few spots still available on the trip. Any interested Grade 11 or 12 students in Core French or French Immersion should see Mme Flynn immediately.

We hope to start the breakfast program on Monday October 1. Funding is always an issue. Donations of money or products such as canned juices, cereal, or jam/cheese spreads are always welcome.

Get involved in your school, join Students Against Drinking and Driving. Come to our information meeting in W307 at 12:00 noon on Thursday.

S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) will have its first meeting of the school year this Wednesday at 11:50 in Mr. Lea’s room (W304).

Yearbook Deadlines:

Teachers, in your mailboxes this morning, you will find Graduation requirement reviews for your Grade 12 students. Please help students look them over and complete the question at the bottom of the page indicating their eligibility to graduate in June of 2008.

From the Guidance Office: Any students who have not handed in their forms for the Volunteer program at the Kings County Memorial Hospital and the Riverview Manor are reminded that the deadline is 8:45 on Friday morning.

Any teachers who would like a Peer Helper during C or D Block must see Ms. Beck before noon today.

Congratulations to the Women’s Soccer team who played well last evening. The final score was 7-0 in favour of Rural. However, everyone played a strong game considering there were many injured players. The girls will practice today at 3:30 at the complex. Also, anyone wanting a Fall Fest T-shirt must see Shelley Acorn this morning; and if they want a team jacket, they should see either Shelley Acorn or Ms. Peggy Flynn sometime today.

There’s a 3 on 3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on Saturday, September 22, from 1 - 4 pm, featuring players from the PEI Mustangs, Scotiabank, Ocean & K-Rock and the Friendly Pharmacy. This is being held at the gym at Birchwood Junior High School, in support of Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion. Check it out! Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted.

Fall Fest Volunteers: Fall Festival of Sports is still looking for volunteers for the donation station, security and floaters. Anyone who would like to sign up must leave their name on one of the sign up sheets throughout the school. There is a $10 fee which covers your dance ticket and volunteer shirt. Come sign up! Sign up sheets can be found on the bulletin board outside Ms. Lowther’s room, on the trophy case at the top of the stairs, or on the bulletin board outside Ms. Anderson’s classroom.

Other Athletic Notes:

  • The Men’s Soccer team will travel to Charlottetown Rural today. The bus will leave at 3:30 p.m.
  • The Women’s Soccer team will be facing the Rural at 5:00 at the Complex. All girls are expected to be at the Complex and ready to start warming up at 4:30 sharp. Best of luck to the team!
  • Anyone interested in joining the Athletic Council should attend a brief meeting today at 12:45 in the gymnasium.
  • Students interested in score keeping for league volleyball or the Fall Festival of Sport should attend a meeting on Thursday, September 20, in the gymnasium.

Information for Grade 12 Students

The Grad Barbeque is on Thursday, September 20. Busses will leave at 10:26 from the main student entrance. You MUST take the bus!

Grad Class Picture at Brudenell will be taken around 11:15 am at the playground.

Sharon Anderson, Glenda McInnis and Philip MacDonald will help organize your Grad Executive.

Please make sure you check the Grad bulletin Board outside Ms. Anderson’s Room (M110) on a regular basis. This will keep you up to date on events planned for the grads.

Year Book:

  • Write ups - email to a committee member. List of members is on the Grad Bulletin Board - outside M110. It is YOUR responsibility to submit your write up! You will NOT be chased!!
  • You MUST have Heckberts take ONE Grad Picture for the Composite and yearbook - This is FREE! You must make an appointment - see list posted outside M110.
  • You can choose Heckberts or go elsewhere for your grad photos.
  • If you want the Year Book to continue, then support it by buying one.

Students are reminded that you MUST pick up a permission slip from the office if you are planning on visiting Montague Intermediate School. Students will be refused admission to the Intermediate if they do not have a permission slip.

Teachers will be glad to hear that all three computers in the staff room are working!

Ms. Malone’s extra help will be held today after school instead of Wednesday after school.

Student Council will meet today after school at 3:30 p.m. The Executive will meet today at 11:45 in M307.

Grade Twelve students are reminded to sign up for the Grad BBQ scheduled for this Thursday, September 20. If you pay your grad fee, the BBQ is free, otherwise, the cost is $5.00.

There will be choir today after school from 3:30 to 5:00 pm in the music room.

The Peer Helper Training Day has been changed to Friday, September 21.

Athletic Department Notes:

  • Congratulations to the Women’s Soccer Team on a great performance last night. The final score was 4-3 in favour of TOSH. Scoring for MRHS were Cathy Nabuurs and Brittany MacEachern. The team will face the Rural on Wednesday evening at the Complex. Congratulations once again on a great performance.
  • The Men’s Volleyball team will practice today at 3:30 p.m.
  • The Men’s Soccer team won 2-1 last night against TOSH. There will be practice today at 3:30 at the Complex.
